30 and Ready for Teatime? Let's go to," The Spicery"

 It's a Friday!

Not only Friday but a very special Friday. I turned 30!

Can you believe all the amazing memories I have built.

I sat with no plans when my sister calls me to say," Hey what are we doing for your birthday?"

In silence I think about all the things I could do, but there is one moment that comes back to me.

Sitting with my mother in a beautiful house built in 1985, we have conversations. We talk about the art works that surrounds us. The fresh baked goods with a mix of hot cup of tea perfect combination. I told her lets go to The Spicery in Glendale. I call to make a reservation and to our luck, we got a table booked for 3 and 2 children.

I spent all day thinking about what I was going to order. I mean look at their menu, So many options

Let's Explain the History

Listed on the National Registry of Historic Places, the house was built in 1895 by Victory and Lilly Messenger. In 1936 Harold and Mae Brewster purchased the home. The Brewsters planted citrus and pecan trees. Mae planted the original roses and a victory garden. In 1987 the four Brewster boys sold their childhood home to Martha W. Campbell Who had moved in Glendale in 1936.

Founder of The Spicery

Martha Campbell founded The Spicery three decades ago, one of the first tearooms, Martha restored the historic Messenger-Brewster home to this beautiful restaurant where you hear the “clink” of China and silver. Martha retired and sold the tearoom to Matt Borowski.

Owner from 2010-2022

Matt grew up in Glendale and went to Unit 1 Elementary School and Glendale High School. Matt worked alongside Martha for many years. Upon her retirement, Matt purchased The Spicery in 2010 and made wonderful improvements to the restaurant. Matt retired in 2022 and the restaurant was purchased by Bud and Lorraine Zomok alongside partners Sue Berntsen and Kenn Clark.

The new owners

I got to meet Lorraine she is so wonderful and cares so much

This place is filled with memories my mother had a beautiful Christmas dinner with my father when I was younger, my mother brought me, Then I brought my daughter. Thats three generations!

I can't tell you how much we love the experience the food and the memories we make.

We started off by a welcoming greeting from the beautiful host, we sat at a table with beautiful table ware set and hand folded napkins.

We ordered the Chefs Choice and wow was that the best choice! He even came out to see how our food was tasting and of course DELICIOUS!

They had amazing selection of tea we could not decide on one so we each picked our own

This is how I prepare my tea.

Sugar and Milk paired with scones and lemon/cream spread.

How do you prepare yours?

We finished our meal with a birthday dessert a beautiful Salted Caramel Gelato

We have had so many amazing moments. We cannot wait to go again and build more memories
